Who Am I?

Well, guess it's my turn now~

Hey to everyone who doesn't know me (and to those who know me too, of course, but especially to those who don't :P)

My name is Alba, 18 years old, born and raised in Austria. But since my dad is Spanish I grew up bilingual. My parents both studied at the KUG, my mother the flute and my father the guitar.
Sooo my brother and I grew up very musical too and we both learned our instrument at the age of 4. I play the violin though I might be out of practice already since I have barely touched my instrument for about 2 years.
Every year I go to Spain in summer to visit my relatives there. We live in my grandfathers apartment in Tarragona, Catalonia. Usually we don't get around a lot and just spend our days there swimming, eating and visiting friends and relatives. But lately I've gotten around quite a lot and visited a lot of places! (I don't have a lot of travelling photos on my computer so I can't post them here!)

Mentioning pets is always important when self introducing so lemme tell you about ma babies: I have two guinea pigs, One male and one female, and they are my precious children. And what's a blog without pictures of cute animals, right? So here you go
Luna

Lolo (WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BUY ANOTHER FEMALE AND NAME HER "LOLA" BUT HE WAS JUST WAY CUTER OKAY??)
Okay okay, focus, focus. UHm...
I really love to draw. I can't remember a time I didn't draw. Since I was...about 11 I guess? I invented characters and mor characters and even more characters. First I wanted to write books but when I started to realise that I drew more than I was writing I gave up and decided I was going to draw comics. I admit I haven't gotten far there either but I'm trying :P
My style is quite heavily influenced by manga artists I like - but I keep insisting that I don't draw manga. Because I don't. I mean, look at that. Way too realistic to be manga *flips hair in diva mode*
My life right now consists of fangirling over anime series and characters and pairings and whatever. (But I try not to show it all too much. Usually I fail)
If...maybee....someonee....is interesteeedd.....here's the link to my deviantart profile.

Other than drawing I love to listen to music, to hang out with friends and to sleep. And eat. A lot. I'm gonna get fat someday.
I visit a lot of museums, concerts, theatres and operas thanks to my parents and I quite enjoy it! (A little bit of culture is never bad or boring ;) Plus, I get to dress up and I love parading around in pretty clothes ehehe)

Uhmm...*scrolls through other blog posts for inspiration*....well, this is all I have to say now, you'll probably get to know me better in the future! 'Til then~

Who am I ?

Hello everyone, it’s me, AnnaJ.  As we are a really large group of students it is unlikely that everyone knows me. So I want to tell you something about me.

I am 19 years old and my home town is in the wonderful Carinthia. There I live together in a big house with my mum and dad. I also have an older brother but he already moved to Klagenfurt. We really get on well together and sometimes we go out and party together. I really enjoy this, as he always protects me J

My home country is very rural so I love spending time outside. My favourite place is a lake up the mountains, 20 min away from my home. I often go there, especially in summer with my friends and we put up a tent and stay there for 2 days, enjoying the nature and atmosphere.

Bildergebnis für bookshelvesBeside this, I love reading books, mainly thrillers. As a symbol I’ve posted a picture of a shelve full with books, so that you can imagine how my room looks like. Every time I buy a new book it is really difficult to find space for it, as my shelves are completely “covered” with books.

With this picture I want to finish my” Who I am” post. Do you have an idea why I chose a picture of dextrose? No? Dextrose is something I always have with me as I am diabetic. So it can happen that my blood sugar level is low and I have to eat something. My mom is sometimes despairing as the dextrose is really everywhere in our house- even in the bathroom.

I hope that you know me a little better now and I am looking forward reading something about you all ;)

So what does a successful Food Magazine article look like?

Wow! We sure have a lot of articles now in our Food Magazine! Over 170!

The quality varies of course, but we can learn from the ones that past students have written.

The ones below are all about food culture in the United States.
TASK:
Read all 5 titles and then decide which one you would click on if you only had time to read TWO articles. Explain your choices.
As you read the articles, think about just what it is that makes them successful. Make a few notes of any ideas that might help you write a successful article yourself. One that stands out. One that people will really enjoy reading. One that people will finish and say "More, please!"

Inspiration

One thing we learned both from discussing blogging with you and from reading your blogs is that you sometimes have problems coming up with topics to blog about.  For this reason, we have created an inspiration tag on this blog, which we will use every time we are posting about topics that might inspire you to blog.  Anytime you're stuck for an idea, click on the inspiration label to the right and read through the posts for topics you could write about.
Our very first piece of inspiration is coming at you right now.  Ready?  This piece by blogger and author Molly Greene lists 101 Fabulous Blog Topic Ideas.  It's one of the best lists I've come across, and I really think there's something for everyone on there.  Which category do you think you'd be most interested in using ideas from?

Feedback on SUK1 WS14 blogs

What made the successful posts successful?
  • personal topics -- If, for example, you write a book review, tell us about YOUR experience of reading the book.  If you write about giraffes, don't tell me how tall they grow to be - I can find that on Wikipedia - tell me about your experience of seeing giraffes on a safari.  Your reader is interested in YOUR thoughts, experiences and ideas, not in a rewritten version of an article they could read elsewhere.
  • new information --We're all here because we love learning.  :)  Tell us about something you know but that we may not yet be familiar with.
  • well-written
  • honest
  • humour
  • carefully-chosen pictures and videos
  • links to further information
  • correctly labelled posts - With our new course blog, make sure that you not only use the labels we have requested you use, but also label your posts with key words from your post so that others with the same interest can easily find it.  There is no limit to the number of labels (tags) you can use.

Here are a couple of things that drove us crazy:
  • posts that were not spellchecked
  • posts that were clearly not original
  • posts that were Wikipedia-like/encyclopedic
  • posts that were an extremely long brain dump
